The Best Pâtisseries in Paris

I just visited my sister in Paris and oh have I missed Paris and its food. The choices are simply so overwhelming I’ve been contemplating how to present all this deliciousness. I’ve decided to dedicate a whole post to my favourite part of Paris, namely the Patisseries and Boulangeries. Each and every one is delicious, with a slightly different take on these French delicacies.

les patisseries de paris

Let us start with Claus (14 Rue Jean-Jacques Rousseau, 75001 Paris). Claus is actually German, but don’t let that fool you. Claus’s serves some of the best croissants in Paris, as well as the best Bircher Müsli. The décor is light and modern, which is why I love it. Also, the upstairs is perfect for breakfast – whether you enjoy the croissant or the Müsli is of course up to you.

Another hip and newly discovered favourite of mine is Liberté (39 rue des Vinaigriers, 75010 Paris). It is located in the up and coming neighbourhood of Canal St. Martin and most definitely has this cool vibe. It also serves delicious French pastries that I would love to devour on a daily basis. Oh, the hardships one endures when not living in Paris!

A good standard French bakery is Gerad Mulot (76 Rue de Seine, 75006 Paris). It is a traditional Parisian bakery that hasn’t given in to a hip design or cool logo, but relies on serving good quality. It offers all the traditional French pastries you could hope for, as well as the baguette and bread the French are famous for. It’s best to buy a sandwich and pastry here while enjoying the beautiful Saint Germain neighbourhood because there is no seating.

A slightly different take on pastries is La Boutique Jaune de Sasha Finkelsztajn (27 Rue des Rosiers, 75004 Paris). Located in the Marais, the traditionally Jewish neighbourhood of Paris, this place is not your traditional French boulangerie experience. Finkelsztajn, as the name suggests, is Jewish and serves Jewish baked goods. It is actually a traiteur and so also serves pâté, cold cuts and everything you knew about Jewish food and a lot you didn’t. Patisseries done differently!

Enjoy and bon appétit! And a big thank you to my dear sister, who ate and explored with me!
