Mosaic Guest House

A couple of weeks ago, the entire office headed up north to Sebastiyya in the West Bank and enjoyed a mini retreat. We had the pleasure of staying at the Mosaic Guest House, which opened last year and has been perfectly refurbished, with a modern kitchen, bathrooms, and beautiful rooms.

The Guest House is made up of a number of different adjourning houses that have been joined and create a lovely intricate complex. Trees planted throught and a number of different terraces give the whole place a perfect sense of happiness and hospitality, that makes you feel right at home. The Guest House gets its name from and is associated with the Mosaic Centre Jericho, which in an non-profit organisation that aims to protect and promote Palestinian cultural heritage in the Palestinian Territories. There are a number of beautiful mosaics throughout.

There are five bedrooms with ensuite bathrooms, all decorated in a different color and unique pieces of furniture. Done with care and attention they make it difficult to choose which bed you want to sleep in. Some rooms have two single beds and others a double bed.

If you like, breakfast and dinner can be provided. We enjoyed a simple and delicious breakfast, with toast, fresh fruit and nuts, yoghurt, fresh juice and delicious omelet. For dinner, we organised a fabulous barbecue and enjoyed a glass of cold beer, while looking across the beautiful views.

A Jerusalem Tradition – The American Colony Hotel

The American Colony Hotel‘s history dates back to 1902 and as such represents a unique part of Jerusalem. Staying there is not only a luxury experience but a historical one too as you join the list of individuals and dignitaries who have came through. I was lucky enough to enjoy the hotel when my grandmother came to visit me in Jerualem and treated us both to a fabulous stay.

Welcome to the American Colony Hotel

Welcome to the American Colony Hotel

Entrance_American Colony My favourite part of the hotel, and probably also the most beautiful part of the hotel, was its stunning courtyard. It exudes that sense of calm and peace that a courtyard ought to have. Surrounded by beautiful flowers and sitting under ranks of green and hearing bird chatter from above, you can’t help but feel perfectly at ease and happy. Whenever we weren’t exploring Jerusalem we rested our feet and minds in this utterly beautiful space. Courtyard Courtyard_II The other extraordinary thing about the American Colony Hotel is the food. It really is spectacularly delicious. Having lived off falafel and salad the previous weeks I could not get enough of the divine, delicious, mouthwatering food. I ate my way through the entire menu, top to bottom. Favourites included the puy lentil salad with spinach and pan seared salmon, the roasted lamp cottletes and the breakfast buffet with muesli, croissants, freshly baked bread, fresh fruit and (my favourite thing for breakfast) bacon. You can also enjoy breakfast in the sunny courtyard

And my favourite desert, apple pie with vanilla ice cream (which I had to have several times!!) ApplePie The rooms are beautifully decorated. Particularly special are the rooms off the courtyard with great vaulted ceilings, balconies, and beautiful tapestries. Everything is imbued with tradition, making it both unique and comforting. There also is swimming pool, giving you the chance to relax and cool down during Jerusalem’s hot summers. BedroomOne Our time at the American Colony was perfect. To top of all the luxury and delicious food was the kind staff who made us feel right at home. I highly recommend!

The Montefiore 36

Last week I had the pleasure of spending the night at a perfect little boutique hotel in Tel Aviv! It was sleek, chic, elegant, with attention to detail, personality, a great location, and perfectly encapsulated everything you expect of Tel Aviv! Let me introduce you to the Montefiore 36!

The rooms are perfectly designed with modern decor and flair. What makes everything so special is the attention to detail. Paintings, statues, a fantastic wall of books, a beautiful carafe with mineral water, and a welcome treat. The bathrooms feature a luxurious rain shower and comfy, soft bathrobes. Also, the location is great, ideal to go out and explore the hip Nevetzedek neighbourhood and stroll along the Rothschild Boulevard.

I loved this sculpture!

What’s even better is the restaurant and bar downstairs. Like everything else in the hotel they exude chic and cool.  There was beautiful porcelain and silverware, stunning bouquets of red roses and soothing Jazz in the background.

Dinner_MontefioreWhat I found particularly cool (and which I will totally do at home) was the use of silver trays, baskets and pots to serve food and beverages. I enjoyed my Earl Grey that much more poured from the beautiful silver teapot.

Perfect presentation and great use of beautiful silver trays, pots and baskets

Just as noteworthy was of course the food. We had breakfast and lunch at the hotel and both tasted just perfect! The restaurant is Asian fusion and I enjoyed a miso soup, raw tuna with yuzu sauce, and Chinese greens. It was perfect and light and just what is needed for lunch.  The breakfast was a treat, especially as it was served outside. I stuck with my favourite breakfast combination of granola, yoghurt, fresh orange juice and tea and treated myself to a basket of delicious pastries! Those pastries were some of the best I’ve had in a quiet some time!!

The Perfect British Luxury Weekend

Want to spend the perfect weekend in the British Countryside? Look no further than Cliveden!

cliveden house

Cliveden offers everything you could possibly want from a beautiful luxury country house hotel. The décor is beautiful, with the old library being my favourite – it’s the perfect place to enjoy a glass of red wine after a long walk outside, play Pictionary, and enjoy your friends’ company.

Now, the food is equally perfect. The “Dining Room” has just reopened and is now run by Chef André Garret and most definitely worth a trip. For something more easy going and relaxed try the “Club Room,”, which has a beautiful courtyard and great décor, making it the ideal place to enjoy breakfast outdoors or afternoon tea during the rain. For something really special, we headed out on a boat ride down the Thames…going a whole 4mph…and then enjoyed a riverside picnic. Best and most delicious part of the day!

For even more spectacularness you simply have to take a walk through the unbelievable National Trust Grade I grounds. There are 376 acres of utter beauty! Anyone can visit the grounds and we spent the afternoon wandering about along with families and picnic goers and even tried out the super cool slides!

The park also has the cute “Orangery Café.” It serves scrumptious homemade sandwiches as well as a lunch menu, and everything is made from locally sourced produce. All in all, Cliveden is the perfect place to spend a relaxing, soul inspiring British Weekend!

An English Eco Escape

Looking to escape London for a quick weekend trip? And want to soak up some sun and enjoy a dip in the sea? Try heading to Bournemouth and the Green House Hotel!

I was dying to go to the beach and it had to be close to London, so I picked Bournemouth. My choice was based on Google images, the fact that it was only two hours by train, and that I’d never been. However, the choice of hotel wasn’t quite as easy. (I admit, I’m a little picky). I chose the Green House Hotel and ended up with the perfect getaway! I enjoyed the sandy beaches of Bournemouth, ventured through it’s beautiful gardens, and returned to London rejuvenated and inspired!

I went equipped with my Fuji Instamix Camera and had a lot of fun taking pictures and watching them appear. I loved these cute colourful beach cabins!

I love going somewhere unique. And that’s exactly what the Green House Hotel is! The rooms are modern with a twist (my favourite being the bathtub in our room). Everything is bright, fresh, clean, and most importantly eco-friendly. The hotel is based on the principles of acting responsibly and ethically and minimizing the effects on the environment. I loved seeing these ideas realized throughout the hotel! We had fresh complimentary bottles of water in our room, served in the hotel’s own glass bottles! There isn’t a piece of plastic to be seen, anywhere! The toiletries are British! In fact, everything is locally sourced! The lighting is environmentally friendly! Your sheets are organic fair-trade cotton and the bedding organic feather and down!

Arriving at the Green House Hotel

Arriving at the Green House Hotel

All in all the Green House Hotel makes for a truly unique experience. It’s the perfect summer getaway on the beautiful British coast. Take a train and enjoy relaxing for the weekend. You deserve it!

Looking for the perfect summer retreat? Check out Il Pellicano

It is summer time and therefore Il Pellicano time (Località Sbarcatello, 58019 Porto Ercole (Grosseto)). The Il Pellicano hotel is the perfect location to experience luxurious, relaxing, and delicious moments of utter bliss.

Il Pellicano is among my family’s favorite hotels, for Il Pellicano is truly special and has it all…a beautiful location, a stunning view, a unique atmosphere, perfect luxury, and absolutely divine food. It starts with breakfast, which is so creative and fantastic that you simply cannot imagine anything better! The pastries are extraordinary, evoking feelings of happiness and leaving you ready to start your day.

The afternoon allows you to indulge in an Italian summer dream. You relax by the beautiful pool or by walking down the great cliffs and dipping into the black clear sea or going out with the boat. You enjoy lunch on the terrace, taking in the beautiful view of the coast and sea. The food is, as always, awe-inspiringly good!

For dinner you experience a true culinary spectacle by Chef Antonio Guida at the two-Michelin star restaurant. Two Michelin stars really speak for themselves (as does my previous gushing) and Chef Guida and his kitchen do not disappoint, as the food transports you into a world of pleasures, surprises, and perfection.

This video “Eating at Il Pellicano” (as seen on NOWNESS) perfectly captures the beautiful essence that is Il Pellicano. Watch and be transported!

The Ultimate Delicious Vacation

I want to introduce you to Soneva Fushi (Kunfunadhoo Island, Baa Atoll), which serves some of the most delicious food I have ever tasted and happens to be my favourite hotel of all times. Staying here is one of the best things ever!

soneva island picSoneva Fushi is simply beautiful and utterly amazing! The quality is extraordinary, attention to detail is immaculate and absolutely everything is tailored to your every wish and desire. I could go on forever praising its virtues, but I shall restrain myself. As such, lets get straight to the food (and skip the white beaches, hammocks, palm trees, spa, snorkelling, scuba diving, and the laidback luxury).

There are two restaurants (Mihiree Mihta and Nine ), two bars, and a wine cellar on the island. Each and every location is unique, extraordinary, and utterly beautiful. Breakfast and Lunch are served in Mihiree Mihta, which is right next to the beach, meaning your toes get to dig themselves into the sand while you enjoy a culinary feast. There is an extraordinary choice, including homemade baked pastries and mind blowing good fruit for breakfast and freshly caught fish any way you want it for lunch. (My personal favorite was the delicious sashimi!) You can enjoy a delicious dinner at Nine, which has a more refined and elegant atmosphere. Dinner is always a feast, especially during the weekly aperitif on the neighbouring white sandbank and the grand dinner after. Of course, you can have lunch or dinner served anywhere on the island upon request (on the sandbank, on the beach, in your villa…you name it!)

What makes Sonvea Fushi particularly special and truly sets it apart from any other luxury resort, is the care and attention given to everything – especially the food. The fish is freshly caught just off the island and the chef’s organic garden is the ultimate pinnacle, meaning your food really is freshly picked and locally sourced. In fact, Soneva Fushi and its food have been so successful that they’ve published a cookbook. Here’s a beautiful page from said cookbook, with which I hope to bring a slice of paradise into your kitchen.
